Jamie Lynn Spears turns 20

Famous teen mom Jamie Lynn Spears had to grow up early to raise Maddie, but now, it's official: Britney's little sis Jamie Lynn is 20 today! Jamie Lynn and Maddie celebrated the big birthday with a dress-up session, but is mom also preparing for a comeback?

"Goodbye teens.. Hello 20's!!!"Jamie Lynn Spears tweeted.

Jamie Lynn Spears turns 20

Jamie Lynn Spears celebrated her big day with her fave toddler, Maddie Briann Aldridge, and posted a photo of their dress-up session on Saturday, asking, "What else do you do on your 20th birthday weekend?"

Motherhood and life outside the spotlight seem to be treating Jamie Lynn well, but now that she and her baby girl are growing up, SheKnows suspects there's a professional comeback in the works.

Back in 2007, Spears looked poised to follow in her big sis Britney's dance steps. Just as Britney Spears turned her Disney start into mega stardom, Jamie Lynn was hoping to ride her Nickelodeon gig into adulthood.

Her plans took a turn, however, when the 16-year-old got pregnant with Maddie, born June 19, 2008, and became embroiled in controversy. Spears' show Zoey 101 wasn't renewed and she retired from the Hollywood scene to raise her daughter with baby daddy Casey Aldridge in Kentwood, Louisiana. The pair moved in together and even got engaged, but ultimately split up last year.

These days, Jamie Lynn's website features an artsy, animated image of a winged Jamie Lynn on a road map, with links to her social network pages and her managers. A sign says, "Entering Nashville City Limits" and according to her Twitter feed, that's where she's been clocking in for "work."

The other sign on the page is, of course, Kentwood, which Spears calls home. The actress-singer turned teen mom seems to be splitting her time these days and rumor has it, that "work" is a country pop album.

SheKnows wishes Mama Spears a happy 20th birthday and good luck with that comeback. Of course, if she's anything like her comeback queen big sis Britney Spears, she won't need it!

The three-year-old niece of Britney Spears is already Internet famous after her mom released a video of the toddler singing a Brit hit.

Maddie Spears, the toddler daughter of teen mom Jamie Lynn Spears, made her public performance debut on YouTube singing her Auntie Britney's new hit Up N' Down.

There's probably a few things you would freak out about if you heard your three-year-old singing about, right? Like drugs, looking sexy, having a dirty mind, and casual sex with strangers, maybe? Obviously the Spears family is not like the rest of us.

The good news is that with a little tuning, Maddie can have a thriving career in pop music just like Britney Spears when she grows up.

Jamie Lynn Spears is on the verge of turning 21 and is looking back on her decision to become America's most famous teen mom. Read on as she tells her story in her own words.

Jamie Lynn Spears

Can you believe that little Jamie Lynn Spears is almost 21? Her birthday is in April, but the last we really heard from her, Britney Spears' little sis announced that she was 16 and pregnant. Now all grown up with an adorable daughter, the former Nickelodeon star is on the verge of breaking out into her own country music career.

Spears explained her journey to Glamour.

"It was 2007. I had been on a Nickelodeon show, Zoey 101, and after we wrapped shooting, I just wanted to go home to Louisiana and finish high school, be a cheerleader, all that," Spears explained. "Then I found out I was pregnant. I was 16. I'd had one boyfriend. It doesn't make it perfect or all right. But I was judged for something that probably most everyone does. I was young. I was in love. I was like every other teenager, except I had this last name. And I made a decision that is forever my decision."

Jamie Lynn Spears' daughter Maddie sings Britney song on YouTube>>

"I did feel responsible for the young girls and the mothers who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that," Spears said. "But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy. I hated when [the tabloids] said that. Everybody is dealt a hand of cards. It was my choice to play them the way I played them."

"These days, the only thing I'm afraid of is not being a good mom. As long as Maddie is healthy and she loves me, the rest doesn't matter."

More than anything, Jamie Lynn Spears wants people to see who she is today and not just remember who she was back then.

"I was a kid who did a kid show. Then I went away and raised my child, and the world has never met me as an adult," she said. "This is the first time anybody is really meeting me as a grown woman and grown mother making a decision about what to do with my life. Do people have an idea of who they think I am? Yes, and that's fine with me. My music will speak for itself."

Where they are now

What's the only thing more juicy than a celebrity divorce? A young celebrity who's pregnant!

All of the celebrity mamas on this list hadn't even celebrated their 25th birthday before they became mothers and we've loved watching their journey as moms ever since.

Jamie Lynn Spears

Age 16 when daughter, Maddie, was born in 2008

Jamie Lynn Spears, the seemingly wholesome, younger sister of pop megastar, Britney Spears, rocked the world of tween fans everywhere when she announced she was expecting a child with her then boyfriend, at just 16 years old. Daughter Maddie was born in 2008, making her 4 years old now. Although the on-again/off-again relationship between Jamie Lynn and Maddie's father, Casey Aldridge, didn't last, Jamie Lynn has made a life for herself and Maddie in their Louisiana hometown, staying off the celebrity radar for the most part.

Britney Spears

Age 23 when son, Sean Preston, was born in 2005

Although she certainly wasn't a teenager like her sister, Britney Spears also jumped into motherhood at a young age, giving birth to her oldest son, Sean Preston in 2005 at age 23, not long after marrying his dad, now ex-husband, Kevin Federline. Sean Preston, who will be 7 this September was joined by brother, Jayden, just a year later. Britney went through a, well, interesting period in her life not long after becoming a mom, but lately, things seem to be looking up for Brit, who is engaged to long-time boyfriend, Jason Trawick. We wonder... will there be a third baby for Britney?

Reese Witherspoon

Age 23 when daughter, Ava, was born in 1999

We all love Reese Witherspoon and her hilariously endearing movies, but did you realize that she was just 23 years old when daughter Ava was born? Ava, who is almost 13, was joined by brother Deacon in 2003, and both are about to become siblings to Reese's newest arrival, who she is currently expecting with husband, Jim Toth. We're pretty sure Reese would say that it's different being pregnant at 30-something, compared to being pregnant at 23!

Ashlee Simpson

Age 24 when son, Bronx, was born in 2008

Another younger sister of a megastar, Ashlee Simpson had son, Bronx, with then husband, rocker Pete Wentz, at the age of 24. And, Ashlee is still a young mom — Bronx is reaching the age of 4 and there's no way that you're going to see her driving a minivan or wearing mom jeans anytime soon. Next up for Ashlee? She's an auntie to Jessica Simpson's new daughter, Maxwell.

Jamie Lynn Spears unveils country song she wrote about Britney

Jamie Lynn Spears is pursuing a career as a country singer. While in Nashville, she unveiled a new song titled "I Look Up to You." Can you guess who she wrote it about?

Jamie Lynn Spears

Move over, Britney.

Apparently younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears is actively pursuing a singing career, and paid tribute to her famous sibling in a song titled “I Look Up to You,” which she premiered during a musical showcase at the 3rd and Lindsley Bar & Grill in Nashville.

"You can imagine who I wrote it about, so I hope y’all like it a lot," Spears said as before singing the song, a slow ballad about a “scared little girl” who lost her “innocence” when she became famous way too soon.

The track has a catchy hook heading into the chorus, and is far more “country” than anything older sister Britney ever attempted. It’s Jamie Lynn's dream to launch a country music career. She kickstarted her road to Nashville earlier this year, and this showcase was the next step on what’s sure to be a long journey to superstardom.

The famous little sister is all grown up and taking the biggest step of her life. She shared the news Saturday through Instagram.

Jamie Lynn Spears

Here's hoping Jamie Lynn Spears has better luck in love than big sis Britney. The 21-year-old announced her engagement to boyfriend Jamie Watson Saturday night through Instagram.

Spears posted a photo of her and her new fiancé, along with her engagement ring. The caption read "Guesssss what?????? #Hedidgood." Watson told the New York Post back in January that he and Spears and Watson have been dating on and off for three years.

Jamie Lynn Spears: From teen mom to country star>>

"Watson reveals that he and Spears have discussed marriage, but even though he wants to eventually put a ring on it, they're still figuring things out," said the newspaper. "The couple has had their share of breakups, but Watson says, 'We've been back together for a while now.'"

This is not Spears' first time being engaged. Before she was even 18, she was engaged to Casey Aldridge. She and Aldridge have a 4-year-old daughter, Maddie, together.

Spears has been in the spotlight most her life as the younger sister of an international superstar. She appeared in Britney’s movie Crossroads back in 2002 and went on to star in the Nickelodeon show Zoey 101, which lasted for four seasons.

Her sister Britney just ended her own engagement a few months ago, to Jason Trawick, but has moved on and will soon be headlining her own Vegas show.

Jamie Lynn Spears is now working in Nashville on her country music career and will hopefully be releasing some music soon.

"I asked her the other night what the hell is taking so long," Watson told the NY Post. "But she's really particular about her stuff. She's trying to do it right because she knows people will be watching."

Even though she is working in Nashville, Spears splits her time between there and Louisiana, where she reportedly lives in her sister's mansion.

"Maddie goes to school in the Kentwood area, so Jamie Lynn tries to be in Louisiana most of the time," Watson said.

The couple is still basking in their new engagement and have not yet announced wedding plans or a date.

Jamie Lynn Spears has marriage license and ready to wed fiancé James Watson

Good news for Britney Spears' little sister Jamie Lynn Spears — she's getting married today!

According to E! News, the "How Could I Want More" singer obtained a marriage license from Tangipahoa Parish Clerk of Courts in Louisiana on March 5, and she couldn't wait to say "I do" to her fiancé James Watson.

The loved-up duo have been engaged for a year, and their wedding is set to take place today. However, Jamie Lynn has remained tight-lipped about the affair although she did hint at her upcoming nuptials in January when she posted a picture of herself on Instagram in a bridal store.

She captioned the picture, "Finally found my perfect dress at @idobridalcouture !!!!! Thank y'all so much for making me feel so special and being so accommodating!!!!"

The 22-year-old star and her beau had only 30 days from the date their marriage license was issued to exchange vows or they would have had to go through the process again to obtain a new license.

However, that does not seem to be the case, and this will be Jamie Lynn's first marriage. She was previously engaged in 2008 to her ex-boyfriend Casey Aldridge — with whom she shares her daughter Maddie, 5 — before the pair decided to call it quits just two years later.

And we are expecting another Spears sister to tie the knot in the near future, too. Britney and her beau David Lucado are rumored to have their eyes set on Elvis Presley's former home, Graceland, in Memphis, Tennessee, as their wedding destination.

Jamie Lynn and Watson appear to be very happy, and we wish them all the best for their future together!

Jamie Lynn Spears is officially someone's wife. Reports claim the younger sister of Britney Spears married Friday, saying "I do" to James Watson.

E! News claims to have an inside knowledge about the pop-singer-turned-country-star's wedding, revealing the nuptials took place in the evening in New Orleans.

Jamie Lynn Spears is fixin' to get hitched! >>

Additional details on the Spears-Watson wedding are sparse, though we do know the 22-year-old mother of 5-year-old Maddie Briann picked out a gown by Liancarlo while out shopping for wedding dresses together in January.

Spears was engaged to, but never actually married her daughter's father, Casey Aldridge.

James Watson popped the big question in 2013, splurging on a gorgeous sparkler for his fellow Louisianan. The die-hard football fan is not a part of the entertainment industry; he owns a high-end electronic communications service called Advanced Media Partners.

As evidence by photos Spears has shared online previously, Watson is both fond of Maddie Briann and fishing. Perez Hilton also reports Watson and his family hold a membership for duck hunting at Specklebelly Hunting Club in New Orleans.

Thus far, the blushing bride hasn't mentioned she's exchanged vows on Twitter, but did post this message on Friday:

Here's hoping the bride and groom had the forethought to order a few types of edible pie along with the wedding cake for their celebration.

Jamie Lynn Spears is the baby sister of one of the world's most famous women, but that doesn't mean she can't have a little shine of her own every once in a while. On Sunday, April 6, the newly married singer attended the 2014 Academy of Country Music Awards and dazzled on the red carpet with her husband James Watson by her side.

Dressed in an Aztec-like patterned minidress, Spears was all smiles with her husband as she flashed her wedding ring. Even though she released her debut single "How Could I Want More" late last year, the blond beauty didn't have any singing duties for the night and appeared simply as a guest attendee for the ceremony. Talk about an exciting mommy night off.

Shortly into the evening, co-host Blake Shelton hit the stage and actually took a low shot at someone pretty dear to Jamie Lynn: big sister Britney. When his co-host Luke Bryan stressed that everyone at the show was ready for some live music, The Voice judge said: "And if you don't like live music, you can go see Britney Spears down the street." Not exactly the most respectful thing to say when a sibling is in the audience, Blake.

Regardless of the joke, Spears took to Twitter after the show, gushing about her experience, and even showing some love to fellow country songstress Kellie Pickler.

Just last month, the 22-year-old starlet made headlines when she tied the knot with James Watson in a New Orleans evening ceremony. As expected, it was a private family affair that included her 5-year-old daughter Maddie Briann, mother Lynn, father Jamie and, of course, big sister Britney.

Spears' long-awaited five-song set has all the makings of a hit country effort and should, rightly so, establish the 23-year-old as one of the genre's most promising new stars. One thing's certain: The EP has been streaming on Spotify all week, and we sure can't get enough.

For Spears — who stepped out of the spotlight six years ago to raise her daughter, Maddie — it's been a long time coming.

"It's nerve-wracking to put your story out there and be vulnerable," the humble singer shared with us. "But it's also kind of a relief, because I feel like my fans have really stood behind me. They've waited so long — they've really given me the chance to dig in and work on the project for the past few years, so mainly I'm excited to get this out there to fans to share it with them."

And if you're of the notion that Spears is simply a pop star parading around in cowboy boots, chew on this: The twangy crooner has some serious Southern roots. A native of Kentwood, Louisiana, she grew up under the music tutelage of her dad, Jamie, listening to country icons, such as Alan Jackson.

Speaking of whom, Spears has already opened for the "Chattahoochee" singer, something she describes as "one of those experiences I'll remember forever."

She elaborated, "Growing up, [Jackson] was one of my dad's favorites, so when I was able to open up for him and just even be on the same stage, it was kind of a moment where I just felt like if anything else doesn't happen, the fact that I'm able to do this… it was a really big moment for me and for my dad."

Opening for Jackson — and breaking into country music in general — is a privilege the pretty singer doesn't take lightly. Her opening single, "How Could I Want More," was written by Spears along with acclaimed Nashville songwriter, Rivers Rutherford, who's collaborated with the likes of superstars Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley and more.

It also happens to be her favorite song from the EP. "Right now in my life, I think 'How Could I Want More,' is really where I'm at personally and professionally," she mused, adding, "even though I love 'em all."

While the lyrical quality of the EP may surprise some, it likely won't shock anyone in Nashville. In addition to Rutherford, Spears co-wrote songs with Chris Tompkins, Liz Rose, Lisa Carver and Luke Laird. She gives much of the credit for her musical growth to the Nashville songwriting community.

"I think that going into it, I was really nervous," she said. "But it was just really cool to get in there. They helped me be brave, and they helped me tell my story. To have them really support me and give me the confidence and help me really learn who I am as a writer… I feel like I owe most everything to that community."

So far, reception from the country world has been "really good." The first single has been received favorably by both critics and fans, and the EP has been talked up by plenty of entertainment aficionados, including Taste of Country, E!, CMT and Entertainment Tonight.

Still, unlike the version of herself in 2002 who told Oprah, "My advice to Britney is to just scoot over 'cause I'm coming through and I'm going to be the star pretty soon," Spears today struggles with insecurity.

"I wish I had the confidence I have in that Oprah video, but I don't have half of that now. I think when you are young and naive, well, really you just don't know better. But as of now, I think you have to get confidence from the right things and the right place and learn your value outside of anything else," she said.

We can see how Spears can feel overwhelmed at times. With a burgeoning new country music career, she's trying to strike the ideal balance as a mom, newlywed (she married James Watson in March) and artist.

"I think that's been the biggest thing and the hardest thing — trying to figure out how to balance it all," she revealed. "Being a mom is first and foremost the most important thing, so I have to make the schedule to where I can fulfill all my duties as a mother and as an artist. But I guess I think that's the hardest part — you know, finding ways to try to be your best at everything without leaving anything half done," she said, sounding far more poised and mature than you might expect for a woman her age.

"As long as you really believe in what you're doing and you have the right people around you, I think that you just have to have confidence in that. Sometimes when you don't have confidence in yourself, having confidence in the direction you're going and knowing you're doing something to be proud of… I think that's what really gives you confidence."

Part of Spears' group of "right people," of course, includes her super-famous sister, Britney. But don't hold your breath for a duet just yet.

"My biggest thing with collaborations is you don't just look around and go, 'Oh, I want to collaborate.' If there's a song that makes sense for a collaboration, that's possible," she explained. "But right now, I'm just beginning to tell my story."

We're excited to announce that for the month of August, recording star Jamie Lynn Spears joins our regular Mommaloguers cast to share her thoughts about being a mom, as well as on music, life and how she balances her celebrity life with quality, everyday family time.

At 23 years old, Jamie Lynn Spears is already a seasoned entertainment veteran. After five years focused on raising her daughter, Maddie, the Kentwood, Louisiana native is back in the spotlight with a sound and style that truly captures her Southern roots.

Her official music debut comes in the form of country ballad, “How Could I Want More.” The intensely personal lyrics mixed with a simple song production portrays Jamie Lynn as wise beyond her 23 years. Her first single already has critical acclaim and cultural heat. It was named a Taste of Country Critic’s Pick and her journey has been covered by such outlets as E!, Entertainment Tonight, BuzzFeed, MTV, CMT and more.

Jamie Lynn began her entertainment career with a small part in Crossroads, portraying the fictionalized younger version of real-life sister Britney Spears’ character. Jamie Lynn then found a home in television; appearing on Nickelodeon’s All That and most notably starring as the title character of Zoey 101, for which she won the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Award for "Best Actress" in 2006.

Why Britney Spears' breakup is bad news for women everywhere >>

"Well, by now everyone knows my boyfriend cheated on me. But the best part of breaking up is going on first dates," Spears said between songs, the Daily Mail reports.

The singer then decided she'd try and find a hot man in the crowd as she announced, "OMG, OMG, I need a hot guy. Where are the hot guys here tonight?"

And Spears managed to single out a fan, who was none other than celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, who joined the pop star up on stage.

As for the star's ex-boyfriend, he allegedly cheated on her and got caught on camera. The video, which made its way around Hollywood, apparently shows Lucado making out with another woman and dancing with her in what appears to be someone's living room back in August.

"David won't be getting through because he's persona non grata at her show in Las Vegas, at her home in Thousand Oaks, California and his phone number's been blocked," a source said, according to the Daily Mail.
